Your future responsibilities
  • Research into spectroscopic and other optical sensing systems - conventional systems and possibly specific topics including
    • IR and Raman spectroscopy
    • UV/VIS spectroscopy
    • VIS/NIR hyperspectral imaging
  • Data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation
  • Optics / opto-mechanics / opto-electronic design and implementation
  • Contribution to project acquisition and writing of funding proposals
  • optional: Project management
  • Supervision of master students
  • Dissemination of achievements in international journals and conferences
Your profile
  • M.Sc. (or higher) in Chemistry/Physics or a related subject, with focus on spectroscopy, optics, optical sensing
  • Good understanding of spectroscopy and photonic principles
  • Previous experience with practical implementation of spectroscopic systems (e.g. detectors/detector electronics, light sources, data acquisition and control, materials for optics, optics coatings, opto-mechanics design, data-analysis)
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields is a plus:
    • UV/VIS/NIR/IR/Raman Spectroscopy
    • Spectra interpretation
    • Familiar with spectrometer and camera software packages (Bruker OPUS,..)
    • Sensor data analysis with (Python, Matlab)
    • Process analytics
    • Fluid handling systems for spectroscopy
  • Innovative, autonomous, well-organised, and result oriented thinking
  • Keen on bringing scientific findings into application, creating tangible innovation
  • Willingness to do a PhD is a plus
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English, preferably conversational language competence in German

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) starting in occupational group E. We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your experience and qualifications. For this position, your minimum monthly salary starts with EUR 3.274 paid 14 times a year.
